Pine Gate Renewables CEO Reacts to Biden Administration Executive Action on Tariffs

The following is a statement from Pine Gate Renewables CEO Ben Catt in response to the Biden Administration’s announcement regarding its Executive Action to spur domestic clean energy manufacturing:

“Pine Gate Renewables applauds the Biden Administration for its announcement today to create a 24-month bridge period to allow solar panels from Southeast Asia to be imported to the U.S. free of certain duties. This decision allows U.S. solar developers to continue adding jobs, investing in communities across the country and helping meet our nation’s clean energy needs.  

We also commend the Administration for recognizing the urgent need to ramp up domestic manufacturing of solar products by utilizing the Defense Production Act and procurement power of the federal government to onshore these key activities.

Now we urge Congress to quickly pass pending legislation that will further reduce the cost of energy for American consumers and incentivize domestic manufacturing of solar products.  Pine Gate looks forward to working with our suppliers to strengthen domestic production and with our industry peers and trade associations to use the next 24 months to reshape the solar industry supply chain.”
