Getting to Know the Community: From Neighbors to Neighbor

Pine Gate Renewables isn’t just about bringing clean energy to communities – we’re also committed to becoming a positive force within them. That’s why, for our proposed Panther Creek solar project near Mount Victory, Ohio, we’re making active listening and engagement a top priority.

The company supports local organizations in the places where we’re developing projects through direct community engagement, by supporting the local economy, and through our corporate giving program, Pine Gate Impact.

Jobs, Timelines, and Transparency: Answering the Community’s Questions

Our journey began in 2022, with casual drop-in sessions at a local restaurant. We wanted to hear directly from residents about their hopes, concerns, and questions about the Panther Creek Solar Project. In 2023, we took our outreach a step further by proudly sponsoring the Hardin County Fair.

This iconic event, a local tradition since 1864, provided the perfect platform to connect with over 100 community members face-to-face. Our booth buzzed with conversations about solar energy, the project’s potential economic impact, and even future employment opportunities.

Many of the people who stopped by our table asked about job opportunities associated with the project, and the development and construction timelines. At this point, we estimate that Panther Creek will create about 400 jobs during the construction process, but the project – if approved – is a few years out from the start of construction so we are still in the planning stages.

To show our dedication to being good neighbors, we’ve opened a local office in downtown Kenton and hired a local community representative. This ensures we’re always accessible and able to keep our finger on the pulse of Northwestern Ohio.

Open Communication: Building Long-Term Relationships

Our engagement doesn’t stop here. We’ll continue meeting with local groups and organizations, fostering open dialogue and transparency. As part of the Ohio Power Siting Board’s permit process, we’ll also be holding a public information meeting to address any remaining questions and concerns.

We believe that Panther Creek isn’t just about clean energy – it’s about building a partnership with communities in Hardin and Logan Counties. By listening, collaborating, and creating opportunities, we hope to build a brighter future for the community, powered by both sunshine and mutual respect.
