Beacon Solar, LLC is a proposed 260 MWac commercial solar energy facility on approximately 1,400 acres in Cordova Township in unincorporated Rock Island County, Illinois. In the Project’s first year of operation, it is estimated to produce 530,000 megawatt-hours (MWhs) of reliable electricity, enough to supply 45,000 average US homes. The proposed Project could commence construction as early as 2026 and would represent an estimated $480 million capital investment in Rock Island County. The Project will create approximately 600 total jobs during the 24-month construction period. When completed, the Project is expected to generate an estimated $41 million in new property taxes over the Project’s expected 40-year operational period.
