Pine Gate Renewables (PGR) is looking to grow its Real Estate team with the hire of a Real Estate Paralegal to work closely with PGR’s in-house attorneys in the origination, acquisition, development and operation of utility-scale solar and storage projects throughout the United States. We are looking for someone who is extremely attentive to detail and a problem-solver.  This position will operate in a fast-paced environment which will require effective communication with both internal and external parties.  This position will report to Real Estate Counsel and will be located in one of our North Carolina offices (Charlotte or Asheville).  We will consider remote work situations depending on relevant work experience.   

What You'll Do

  • Support the in-house attorneys with the proper management, administration, tracking and drafting of real estate agreements, including land options, leases, easements, assignments, estoppels, title curative instruments and notices
  • Work with internal project managers and development leads in order to obtain the information and facts necessary to finalize and execute real estate contracts
  • Draft, review and verify accuracy of notices, amendments and other real estate related contracts for various projects
  • Assist the in-house attorneys in reviewing site control documentation during acquisition of external renewable energy projects
  • Coordinate the proper execution of various real estate agreements including estoppels, notices, amendments, SNDAs, regulatory filings and title curative documentation
  • Track and organize real estate documents for PGR’s portfolio of solar and battery storage projects
  • Assist in-house attorneys with coordinating with surveyors, title companies, lending institutions and internal departments to complete financial closings timely

Must-Haves

  • Experienced real estate paralegal with at least two (2) years of related experience in real estate and/or drafting real property documents
  • High attention to detail and ability to accurately pull relevant information from multiple sources
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders  
  • An entrepreneurial attitude towards problem solving
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), internal document maintenance, and related software

Nice-to-Haves

  • Formal paralegal license issued from at least one US jurisdiction
  • Prior experience with title/survey diligence reviews and real estate closings, both acquisitions and financings
  • Prior experience in renewable energy industry is a plus
  • Ability to (i) spot issues in title commitments and land surveys which could prevent financial closing; (ii) understanding and thinking creatively to resolve title/survey defects; 
  • Prior experience working with surveyors, title companies and lending institutions
  • Understanding of mineral and water right impacts on the surface use of real property

Working Environment and Physical Demand

  • Fast-paced environment requiring ability to simultaneously balance many assignments and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight and collaboratively with inside/outside parties, as needed
  • Some limited travel may be required
