Quality Technician II

Pine Gate Renewables is currently seeking a Quality Control Technician II for utility-scale Transmission/ Distribution Generation solar sites in PA. The Quality Control Technician II at Pine Gate Renewables will execute Pine Gate’s quality control and assurance program. This position will report within the company’s EPC Operations department but will also serve a key role supporting the company’s EPC team. The QCTII reports directly to the Quality Control Superintendent-Site Management

What You’ll Do

  • Constantly solves problems and resolves issues through face to face and personal communication.
  • Perform mechanical inspections throughout all phases of construction to ensure quality standards
  • Record and document inspection results and compare to expected results
  • Detect and record quality failures so that defects may be corrected
  • Assist in preparing quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
  • Perform both initial and secondary QC inspections on work performed by construction teams
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed
  • Detect and record quality failures so that defects may be corrected
  • Travel to project sites to oversee construction, advise customers, and occasionally assist with service of product
  • Complete daily inspections within Procore and CMS systems with reports and photos
  • Ensure Racking, Inverter, and site equipment meet company standards, per drawings and project specifications
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues, damage, and safety risks

Must-Haves

  • Knowledge of all project plans, specifications, and drawings
  • Knowledge of construction principles/practices required
  • Must be problem-solving oriented
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated track record of job-site safety excellence
  • 3-5 years of verifiable quality assurance and/or construction experience with utility scale PV systems
  • NABCEP PV Associate Certification
  • Intermediate Medium Voltage fundamentals, Utility, Overhead and Pole Equipment
  • Basic Construction, structural, electrical single-line and three-line diagrams and drawings
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing equipment standards
  • Clear understanding of OSHA safe workplace practices and procedures
  • Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off shift hours and weekends
  • Sub-contractor and vendor management
  • Competent with Procore and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in Solar Industry
  • Construction experience with transmissions scale

Working Environment and Physical Demand

  • Ability to receive and execute tasks delegated by a more senior technician, all while being able to recognize potential safety concerns, and maintaining a good attitude
  • Work is completed both in the field and in an office environment
  • Individuals in this position work in an outdoor environment and must tolerate all seasons’ weather
  • Requires extensive travel though portions of North Carolina, South Carolina, and other states on an as needed basis
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk short to long distances for 8-10 hours a day
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Follow organization policies and procedures including OSHA requirements. Complete OSHA training as required
