Pine Gate Renewables is seeking a Quality Control Technician III for utility-scale Transmission/ Distribution Generation solar sites in Northeast and Southeast. The Quality Control Technician III at Pine Gate Renewables will execute Pine Gate’s quality control and assurance program. This position will report within the company’s EPC Operations department but will also serve a key role supporting the company’s EPC team. The QC Technician III reports directly to the Quality Control Superintendent-Site Management.

What You’ll Do

  • Work both individually and within a team to perform required quality assurance inspections on utility PV systems
  • Manages the Job Book Table of Contents (TOC) for project-specific requirements and reports client requested changes to the Quality Control Superintendent/ Quality Manager
  • Perform Cause Mapping on nonconformances
  • Participates in the safety program
  • Training and management of QC inspectors
  • Oversight of project QC inspections and documentation to verify compliance with the company’s Quality Plan
  • Perform both initial and secondary QC inspections on work performed by construction teams
  • Audits and inspections of project QC
  • Audits of project quality documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Training of project personnel to perform QC inspections
  • Ensure that inspections and documentation are completed per contract requirements.
  • Identify and document nonconforming inspections
  • Maintain Procore inspection log of nonconforming items and corrective actions implemented
  • Effectively manage Quality personnel who perform audit, inspection, surveillance and/or testing activities in accordance with the project quality program
  • Knowledge of all project plans, specifications, and drawings
  • Investigation of non-conformance issues and implementation of corrective measures.
  • Help maintain Quality Policies and Procedures and ensure compliance. Support project administration to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with company’s Quality Plan
  • Develop and maintain an overall project quality plan, including deliverables and due dates to comply with contract requirements
  • Communicate and implement Pine Gate’s Quality Policies and Procedures for all personnel under Pine Gate’s authority on the project site
  • Constantly solves problems and resolves issues through face to face and personal communication.
  • Perform mechanical inspections throughout all phases of construction to ensure quality standards
  • Record and document inspection results and compare to expected results
  • Detect and record quality failures so that defects may be corrected
  • Work with Quality Lead or Manager to develop non-conformance remediation plans
  • Assist in preparing quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed



  • 5-8 years of verifiable quality assurance and/or construction experience with utility scale PV systems
  • Experience working with solar tracker systems is advantageous
  • NFPA 70e- Preferred
  • Clear understanding of OSHA safe workplace practices and procedures
  • High Voltage Certification-Preferred
  • Low Voltage Certification- Preferred
  • Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off shift hours and weekends
  • NABCEP Certification or equivalent education
  • OSHA 30/ or 100
  • Advanced Racking and Trackers commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, manufacturer training and/or certification
  • Advanced Inverter commissioning, operation, communications, troubleshooting, manufacturer training and/or certification
  • Advanced DAS systems, communication systems, operations, programming, manufacturer training and/or certification
  • MV Transformer Advanced
  • Advanced Construction, structural, electrical single-line and three-line drawings markups and red-lines, RFIs
  • Advanced concepts of Civil construction certification
  • Electrical License and/or Equivalent education
  • Advanced Medium Voltage fundamentals, Utility, Substation
  • NESC training for substation operation



  • Transmission scale experience preferred


Education and Certifications

  • Associates degree in related field, and/or Equivalent education

Working Environment and Physical Demand

  • Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off shift hours and weekends
  • Ability to receive and execute tasks delegated by a more senior technician. All while being able to recognize potential safety concerns, and maintaining a good attitude
  • Current and valid driver license
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk short to long distances for 8-10 hours a day
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Individuals in this position work in an outdoor environment and must tolerate all seasons’ weather
  • This role can be located in NC, SC, MA, PA and/or VA.
