Director of Power Marketing

Pine Gate Renewables is seeking a Director of Power Marketing responsible for materializing power offtake opportunities and guiding cross-functional teams through contract negotiation and deal approval processes. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic leader to assess and translate market competition, analyze energy markets and interpret industry trends, provide solutions for customer goals/mandates, and help develop product offerings.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Implement origination strategies and business plans for securing renewable energy sales
  • Build strong relationships in PJM, ERCOT, MISO, NY-ISO, ISO-NE and beyond, with all customer classes
  • Responsible for market analysis, customer outreach and management, deal origination, structuring and execution, RFP responses, Investment Committee approvals, and other duties
  • Understand legal, regulatory and structuring concepts impacting customer and market development
  • Negotiate and close definitive documents for various offtake structures, including PPAs, virtual PPAs, hedges, REC agreements and other alternative offtake arrangements
  • Coordinate with regional development and internal teams on projects, products, and pricing, as well as strategic direction and competitive issues facing our organization
  • Initiate bilateral contract relationships and negotiations with potential offtakers
  • Review and evaluate requests for proposals (RFPs/RFIs) and work with the team to respond with proposals, pricing, term sheets, issues lists, etc.  
  • Present and attend conferences and client events

Must-Haves

  • 10+ years of power contracting and/or commodity negotiation experience with strong technical background
  • Power generation and utility-scale solar experience required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external partners

Nice-to-Haves

  • Battery storage experience

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field

Working Environment and Physical Demand

  • Some travel may be required
  • This position may be located in Asheville, Charlotte or Remote
