Development Engineer

Pine Gate Renewables is seeking a Development Engineer to perform engineering and project support tasks for distributed generation and utility-scale photovoltaic systems. The Ideal candidate is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and results oriented.


What You’ll Do

  • Create conceptual design layouts for PV power plants utilizing AutoCAD Map3D, PVCAD, and other design software
  • Access and integrate information from GIS databases to evaluate the viability of project locations.
  • Facilitate the creation of energy models utilizing PVSYST and Plant Predict software
  • Facilitate early-stage construction estimates by coordinating with Procurement Staff
  • Support Project Engineers and Development Associates in creating utility Interconnection applications and construction permits
  • Provide technical support to Pine Gate Renewables’ development, procurement, construction, and O&M departments
  • Develop proficiency in, PGR design and engineering specifications, the NEC, and other applicable state and local codes
  • Additional duties as assigned and/or directed

  • Microsoft Office proficiency, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Work or classroom experience with renewable energy



  • 1+ years of PV Design Engineering experience
  • PVSYST, PVCAD, and/or Plant Predict software proficiency
  • Knowledge of AC and DC electrical principles
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code, International Building Code, International Fire Code and other standards relevant to the industry
  • NABCEP Entry Level certification or equivalent

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent technology program


Working Environment and Physical Demand

  • Some travel may be required
  • This position may be located in Charlotte, Asheville or remote
